A portion of students may do poorly by skipping class, by procrastinating lectures, or by speeding lectures to 2x/multitasking. ability to parse material at your own pace, if lecture is too fast, or too slow. * These all fall under the more general life conflicts (interviews, maybe part-time work, illness, etc), recorded lectures an incredible help, as lectures could be watched at a time most convenient. Allow students not feeling well to miss class, and watch at home (it seems like almost all my professors do record for sick students nowadays though, which is fantastic). Midterms can generally be arranged to be taken early, and finals generally follow a different schedule. One could watch lectures in another time slot. The issue of time conflict courses is generally no more. I liked going back to parts that I may have missed, or perhaps did not follow the professor in.Īs we're transitioning to an in-person semester once again, I'm a bit disheartened that some professors don't record the material anymore. However, for certain classes where instruction is done primarily on an ipad (for example, Notability), recorded lectures have helped me tremendously in terms of learning the material during the Covid/Remote semesters compared to in-person. Once again, not implying that I want strictly recorded lectures.
